Decompressing under an oak tree canopy

I sit eating my lunch made with love

I gazed out to the horizon and the vast blue ocean

A small sailboat off in the distance so far it didn't seem to move

In the foreground markers delineated the safe swim area

I saw the dorsal of a dolphin and thought about jumping in and playing with him

The breeze clew in the cool smell of salt and fish

In the canopy I could hear the melodic songs of some birds being overshadowed by the distinctive sound of a Florida whippoorwill

Out of the corner of my eye parked in a white SUV a woman's arm extended, dropped a lit cigarette onto the ground

and the moment was lost
